LaVista...New York...Paris

The Hotel has been BUSY this month and to wrap the month up last night was no exception.  There were over 1100 people here for various events with various themes.

From Paris to New York, the world was picked up and placed inside the LaVista Conference Center!

Oh My, How Busy It Is!

Hi All!

I am excited to tell everyone that Jenny Minino, Catering Manager Extraordinaire, has accepted a new position of Sales Manager (dare I say Extraordinaire yet?!?!).   So while she is no longer a social catering manager, she is still out and about selling the hotel to the masses and doing a fabulous job at it.

With Jenny shifting positions, Vanessa Hughes is our new Social Catering Manager (again, dare I say Extraordinaire yet?!?!).   She's been with the hotel since opening and is so excited to start getting her hands dirty with all kinds of wedding and gala goodness!  She will be posting sometime soon with a bit more about herself.

So with all this shifting within the office, we've been a bit busy, hence the lack of posting.  So sorry about that!

I did want to share a photo as well.

Fun Wedding Ideas for 2011

Hi all.   Now that this year is rolling, I am sure all your wedding plans are in full swing.   I thought I would share these photos with you to give you all some ideas for the big day.

This last summer I jetted down to Austin, Texas (in the blazing heat and humidity…I kind of miss that weather now!) to attend the annual National Association of Catering Executives Conference. The conference was a blast (how can it not be when even at breakfast you can spike your juice with a bit of vodka...?)!

Here are a few photos of the highlights:

Opening Night Reception:

Lighting is a definite trend for weddings that I believe is often overlooked.   If you don’t have the budget to light a room like this, you can always fork out a bit to uplight the back of your head table.   It is a somewhat inexpensive way to add a beautiful design element to the room.

Green Luncheon

For those of you out there that think green has to be boring:  Isn't this table beautiful?!?!?!
This for sure is a super HOT trend that I hope is here to stay, eating local and being responsible by re-purposing elements on the table.   After this luncheon the tomato plant centerpieces were donated to an Austin project that plants gardens in neighborhoods to bring green back into the city.

A LOVELY Tented TableScape

This is a gorgeous idea and a really fun way to add some interest to the ballroom – why not tent your head table with drape and a hanging centerpiece?    I love the Moroccan feel, the colors really make this table inviting.

Overall it was a truly AMAZING experience and I am happy to share all the fab ideas with you.
